Let’s talk about personal motivation. Personal motivation is the most powerful form of motivation. When a person is personally motivated, he can do anything. He can go beyond what anyone might expect. Personally motivated people perform far better than those who are not. They are excellent in what they do.

So how does a person become personally motivated? First of all, please understand that the nature of personal motivation is that it is emotional, not rational. Emotions are primary when it comes to personal motivation. Feelings trump reasons! There might be a reason behind the feelings, but feelings are generally more influential than reasons when it comes to decision making.

What triggers our emotions to make us willing or unwilling to do something? There are four sources of emotional influences in our lives:

  1. Experience
  2. Identification (Vicarious Experience)
  3. Imagination
  4. Spiritual forces

To understand better how these influences play out in relation to our emotions, listen to this podcast.
